Fatip safety razor adjustable Vario Gold Gentile closed comb
The Fatip Vario Gold Gentile closed comb is an adjustable Safety Razor designed for those who want a comfortable, controlled, and customizable shave, with a setup that is also ideal for sensitive skin or for anyone who shaves frequently. Its main feature is the ability to adjust the cutting depth in a simple and precise way, so you can achieve the result that best suits your face, beard density, and personal preferences every day.
Choosing an adjustable Safety Razor means having a tool that follows your routine: you can set a gentler level when your skin feels stressed, or slightly increase efficiency when your beard is coarser or when you’ve skipped a few days. The Fatip Vario adjustment system is based on a rotating dial positioned on the handle, at the base of the head. By turning it, you can increase or decrease the space between the blade and the comb of the head (blade gap). In practice, you’re changing the razor’s aggressiveness: a smaller blade gap tends to provide a milder, more forgiving feel, while a larger blade gap promotes a deeper shave.
This versatility makes the Vario Gold Gentile a Safety Razor suitable both for those refining their technique and for anyone looking for a reliable tool that remains consistent over time. The closed comb version is designed to prioritize glide and comfort. Skin contact is more even, and the head’s guidance helps maintain a stable angle—especially useful for those who want a gentler experience or who are prone to redness and irritation. With proper face preparation and good lubrication (shaving soap or a well-built shaving cream lather), this Safety Razor can deliver a clean, tidy shave, reducing the need to make multiple passes over the same area. In terms of dimensions, the Fatip Vario comes with the classic large handle, designed to ensure a secure grip and good balance during use.
Here are the main specifications:
- Weight: 80 g
- Total length: 93 mm
- Handle length: 82 mm
- Head width: 42 mm
These measurements help convey solidity and control—two key aspects when using an adjustable Safety Razor. Good balance allows you to guide the head with short, precise strokes, letting the weight of the razor do the work without applying pressure. This approach, together with the correct setting, improves both comfort and results. Below you’ll find the operating instructions for handling the blade and head. Following them carefully is important both for safety and to keep all components perfectly aligned.
1) Disassembly
- Turn the adjustment dial located at the base of the head clockwise until it stops (maximum head opening).
- Hold the head firmly by the sides and rotate the handle counterclockwise.
- Keep turning until the spacer (the black central piece) and the top cap of the head, which hold the blade, separate from the handle.
- With great care, also separate the spacer from the top cap and remove the used blade by holding it only by the short, unsharpened sides.
- Dispose of the used blade in a safe container for disposal.
2) Reassembly
- Take the top cap upside down and place the new blade by sliding it over the 2 posts and the central screw.
- Also assemble the spacer by sliding it over the 2 posts and the central screw.
- Hold firmly by the sides (top cap + blade + spacer) without letting them move, and insert the central screw into the corresponding central hole of the handle.
- Holding the head from the sides, start screwing the handle clockwise: the screw will begin to descend and the spacer guides will pass through the comb holes.
- Go all the way to the stop, tightening fully. Do not overtighten to avoid damaging the threads.
- Make sure the holes and notches of all parts (blade, spacer, and comb) are perfectly aligned.
3) Adjustment
- Now that the blade is securely fixed, turn the adjustment dial located on the handle at the base of the head to set your desired level of aggressiveness/cutting depth.
To get the best from this Safety Razor, a good method is to start with a moderate setting, especially if you’re coming from multi-blade razors or if your skin tends to react. After a few shaves, you can fine-tune the setting: gentler on the neck and cheeks, slightly more efficient on the chin and mustache, where the beard is often more resistant. Always keep strokes short, maintain a controlled angle, and use generous lubrication—these factors help reduce friction and micro-irritation.
The Fatip Vario Gold Gentile closed comb is therefore a targeted choice for those who want a versatile, stable, and comfortable Safety Razor, capable of adapting to a daily routine without sacrificing precision and shaving quality.
